Floral Tributes to Queen Elizabeth II, Green Park, London

Emerging from underground,

Like bulbs in bloom,

We followed the crowds,

Towards signs of light.

Dappled light beneath trees,

Disrupting colour rhymes.

A fragrant excess of scent -

Public life cut down for display.

Seasonal displays of sunflowers,

Flags of Commonwealth nations,

Children’s notes and drawings.

Childlike, we wandered pathways,

Created by unseen rangers,

Without ever discerning their design.
